The San Miniato Truffle festival which is held on Saturday and Sunday for the last 3 weekends in November and the first weekend of December is as great as ever! We waited for a sunny day, and it seemed everyone else did also! It was crowded and festive!

We found a “circolo” to eat lunch and I had Taglialini with truffles and Ben had Roast beef with truffles. What a treat!

That combined with some wine, and tastings throughout the festival grounds made for a great meal. There is every type food item you can think of there and when possible, truffles have been added.

This is one of the most famous and important truffle festivals in Tuscany and an event that I go to annually. The town is small, but the festival is large and it takes up every street. There is plenty to see and do to make it a worthwhile daytrip.

San Miniato is a short 40 minutes from Florence on the train and the festival provides a “navetta” from the station to take you up the hill. Entrance is free and so are many tastings. There is a wine tasting for a fee. Have a great time in San Miniato!
