Of course I spent a huge amount of time at the Trevi Fountain on my visit to Rome, it being one of my favorite sites in the world! It was a hot day with a breeze that blew spray from the fresh cool water of the fountain out into the surrounding area. We sat on the steps of the fountain and did some people watching. Many people come to throw their coins in the fountains and make a wish, keeping with the tradition of the movie. The Trevi fountain stands 85 feet high and 65 feet wide, and I am always excited when I am approaching and hear the sound of the roaring water. It is the largest baroque fountain in Rome, and one of the most famous in the world.
On this day, I noticed an Asian man with his eyes tightly closed, fist gripped around his coins, saying something quietly to himself. He was in this position for several minutes, concentrating on his wish and silently mouthing his desire. Suddenly, his hand went into the air and he released the coins with a look of joy and pure unadulterated faith that I have never witnessed before. He made a peace sign and laughed and laughed out loud while looking up at some friends or relatives who had come to support him in this dream. I burst into tears at his sheer delight and can’t stop thinking about what that wish might have been! What would you wish for at the Trevi Fountain?

I believe we can feel in our souls the anguish of others. You were witness to a truly wondrous appeal to the Almighty.
What a special moment you captured!
